BMS Interfaces

Pacom field controllers support BACnet and Modbus protocols.

BACnet functionality can be achieved via the field controllers existing on-board Ethernet port. This enables bidirectional communication of alarm data - meaning critical BMS alarms can also be communicated back to the Pacom GMS. It also enables the ability to control BMS environmental functions and activate these based on events; eg. A card swipe could activate lighting and air-conditioning for the appropriate floor.

Modbus is typically used in controller type applications such as IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices) such as power and flow meters as well as PLCs and SCADA RTUs. The Pacom Modbus protocol provides a method of configuring and accessing "virtual" inputs, outputs and analog inputs which exist on a Modbus enabled device. Once configured, these devices are treated as a conventional Pacom input or output.

Analog Input Monitoring
Some Pacom devices have the ability to receive a variable voltage input from a third party BMS/HVAC system and generate user definable responses such as SNMP alerts to name just one. Using the Pacom 1065 IO module, any input can be configured to respond to voltage changes between 0vdc and 10vdc to an accuracy of 0.01 of a volt. The 1064 I/O device supports between 0vdc and 5vdc. The input is capable of reporting alarm conditions if the voltage exceeds the range or encroaches into the range.
